I'd think that if it doesn't play when you load it, there's a possibility it isn't supported in your audio player. Since it isn't a standard file type that is recognized, you'd need some sort of pluggin. I went looking through the ones supported by winamp and .ogg definitely wasn't shown. Since I don't know the Linux equivalent audio players, if there's a way to show which types are supported, then look through that list. If .ogg isn't supported, there's your answer.
