HD not detected update

Hi Tommy,

This is certainly a strange one. Your suggestions are most
welcome. Londa will not need speakup right away, so that
simplifies it somewhat. She just sent me the system description
of her machine from Gateway, which says to get the details from
their web site, and of course the web site uses Java for their
request forms, so that door is blocked.

Londa - how about visiting their web site and getting what you
can about (1) your motherboard, and (2) your 13.6 GB 7200 RPM
UATA Hard Drive... Those will be critical things to learn.

It is looking like we will need a custom kernel of some sort -
hopefully one of the alternatives to bare.i will do it, but we
need the specs about motherboard and hard drive to proceed...
