ACTIVATING SYSLOG on slakware

This should be in place by default.  Look for a file called
/var/log/messages.  If that is found, you should see all your log
messages.  I honestly can't remember if there are any packages that
include this specifically.  Look in the a1 series for complete list of
packages.  Maybe you chose not to originally install the package that
contains this functionality.
