Hi, just hit the numpad 5 key. Speakup will tell you if there is a star or 
not.
If it doesn't work in standard mode turn on curser tracking, and then hit 
the numpad 5 key. It works all the time.
It took me a while to figure it out, but I can get Red Hat 7.2 installed 
whthout problems by pressing the 5 kkey to see if an item is selected or 
not.
