Hi, Don: You have the CD ROMS for Redhat 7.1, right? Do you have enough room on your hard disk to put that much data on it? Should be about 3 Gb. Do you have 3.Gb plus a little more free? Reason I ask is that there's a simpler way to get 7.2 to you than downloading 3 Gb of data. It's called rsync. As to whether you need more than just the speakup tar ball--yes, you certainly would, if you're going to upgrade via that route. You would need the kernel sources, and you would then need to patch the kernel with speakup, then compile a new kernel. Big job, though many of us here have been doing just that. But, there's likely another way. Let's examine the options for a few days before you dive in. In other words, lets poke around in the water before you jump into it!
