We have a spaghetti sauce here in the States that has a commercial which 
uses the phrase:

"It's already in there."

So, Tim, take a look at /var/log and have at all the logs you need. 
They're already in there.

Well, don't know about slackware, but on Redhat there's a script:

mkbootdisk
