Hi: You don't. It's not so much that the server displays it, it's more that your client does. It's got something to do with the type of FTP message that the welcome text is sent in, it indicates that it is the welcome text or something. BTW: Which server are you using? Proftp seems to be the most secure AFAIK. Wuftp has had some pretty serious security issues in recent years. Geoff.
