This is not a lynx issue as such.  What lynx uses to display or open
particular file types is controled by /etc/mailcap and, in turn,
/etc/mime.types.  Note that .mailcap and .mime.types in your home directory
also take effect.  If you don't like this behaviour, you can change it in
the relevant entry in those files.
