Hello Kirk, In the case of the RedHat boot disks, I believe the Kernel version is 2.4.22. The SlackkWare situation was a few years back so I can't remember for sure but I believe I may have been using 2.2.14. Thanks much for any suggestions. best regards, --Al At 01:34 PM 5/12/01 -0400, you wrote: Hi Al: You haven't told us which versions of the kernel and speakup you are using. You might think we'd know from the boot images but you'd be wrong. I believe the cvs version of speakup does a much better job of detecting the Transport but it's hard to tell because I haven't heard enough feedback on the transport drivers. My Transport seems to be detected almost everytime. However, I don't use the Transport as my main synth so I probably don't reboot as someone like yourself that use it as their primary synth.
