Note to Steve Dawes post:

If you are using the speakup enabled iso's from Bill Acker, instead of just
typing "text" use "text speakup_synth=<synth type>", where <synth type> is
your specific synth.

When doing the install, make sure that as soon as you hear the floppy drive
stop running after you have booted the computer, type in the word
text
and press enter.
This will put you into a text based install instead of the default graphical
one.
