OT: Pipe it to /dev/null

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Kick the bad guys off your computer.

That's right. Get those cookie monstors out of there. After all, where you
browse and what you access is nobody's business but your own--unless, of
course, you choose to make it someone's business.

Here's how to do it ...

Courtessy of our own Bill Acker and David Lesher from the DC area LUG:

1.) -- add the long list of aliases to your /etc/hosts file

2.)	When those nasty little cookies that somehow snuck through your
defenses try to report on you and your interests to those nasty marketing
people, your little /etc/hosts will effectively trap them. How? Why
because of those lovely aliases you just pasted into /etc/hosts. They tell
your computer that those nasty people's Internet address is really
127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.

Bottom Line? You've just effectively piped the bad guys to /dev/null --
figuratively speaking of course!

Here's the list to cut and paste:
