pine and local mail

Yahoo!!! I solved it! God Damn! (excuse me)

There is a pine configuration variable called "smtp-server" which I had
set to point to my ISP's mail server. Leaving that variable null defaults
to "sendmail" and that makes it possible for Pine to send to
"user at localhost" without going out to the ISP first.
