In order to start the Debian installer from DOS mode, you must have both the HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE drivers loaded. If HIMEM.SYS isn't already loaded from your C:\CONFIG.SYS file, add this line to CONFIG.SYS: DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS Then if EMM386.EXE isn't being loaded from CONFIG.SYS, add this line: DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS Alternatively, you can boot your computer into a command prompt in safe mode. To do this, you press F8 as soon as the computer starts booting from the hard disk. Then you'll get a menu where you can choose "Safe mode, command prompt only". But you can't get any speech or Braille output at this point, so you'll probably need sighted assistance. -- Matt Campbell <http://www.pobox.com/~mattcampbell/> ICQ #: 33005941
