you know i had a problem where my synth wouldn't talk with speakup on this computer whereas it did on my sister's and friend's, well my solution is this: i now start using loadlin instead of lilo, and in my batch file i put mode com1 9600,n,8,1 which seems to solve the problem. hope this helps someone else too. saqib Please visit my home page at: http://privatewww.essex.ac.uk/~sshaik
