Mutt is handing sendmail an unqualified address. Sendmail is qualifying the address with your domain. You can do one of 2 things: Tell mutt to qualify the addresses it passes to the mta in this case sendmail or teach sendmail to correctly qualify addresses or hack in a rewrite rule to do it.
