Emacs and Slackware 8.0

I never had to install the X junk before. Wonder if it would be easier to
just install the emacs source and set it up myself. I recall doing
something like that before back when I had a shell account with crl.com.

I have pretty good disk space on this particular machine but I sure hate
to waste it with X and other things I know I will never use.
