1. I don't know what you mean when you ask if the partition will be initialized. 2. It depends on what you want to mount. If the root partition is the entire drive, then mount the entire drive. If your root partition takes up a part of the drive, mount your root partition. 3. Using loadlin is simple. Get a blank DOS floppy, and put system files onto it.
