Kerry - I seem to be parading my ignorance shamelessly on this list lately - the latest concerns 'line out' and 'speakers' on the sblive card. It seems their relative locations are reversed compared with the SB16 and AWE64 cards, so I was driving a pair of barefoot speakers from the line out jack. Moving the speaker plug to the speaker connector works better <g>. I do not have the same performance that way as I did with the older cards, but the settings at least control the loudness now. I have a script called 'setvol' which I access on a virtual console to make quick changes in volume. I may want to get a pair of amplified speakers or a small stereo here - which if I do, it may have to be suspended from the ceiling on a string! The only room on my desk for a pencil is for one that is standing on its eraser! Chuck.
