Hi Joseph, OK the bare-i.apc boots and at the end of all the bootup messages says incert root flopy. So far so good. I incert the color.gz flopy and I get a kernel panic: vfs: unable to mount fs: on 02:1c this is the same message I have been getting befor, except this time it happens when I incert the root flopy and press enter. Befor it would happen when the boot floppy was booting. I tryed using loadlin to boot as well as rawriteing the bare-i.apc and root files to floppies.. I get the same error message when I use loadlin to boot bare.i off of the slackware cdrom. Strange, if I remember I was able to use loadlin to boot the slackware 3.6 bare.i file in this way. I have slackware ver 4.0 on cdrom. Is this the same version as the bare-i.apc? Thanks! Pete Hi Peter: I forgot to mention to kirk that the images I uploaded (only the bare-i.xxx files at this time) are actual diskette images. You should rawrite them to a file (both the bare-i.apc and the color.gz or text.gz files). Then, you just boot the floppy you rawrote the bare-i.apc file on and it should ask for the propper root floppy. Then, you'd insert the floppy you rawrote the file test.gz or color.gz on and it should say something like "vfs: compressed ramdisk found" and some more statistics--can't remember the exact verbiage. This is all assuming Kirk put the images I've uploaded so far up there. My next project when I get some time and no thunderstorms around here is to try to get the scsi images done.
