Just to start off with a wrench in the system: EMJ sells a "DIMM PC" for $314 in single units. The basic specs are as follows: 66 MHz 486SX 16 MB ram 16 MB flash disk (IDE) secondary IDE controller 2 serial ports 1 parallel port Power usage is not a problem really. MIT has one in use as a web server and reports power usage to be .8 watts with minimal usage rising to 2 watts with 100% CPU usage. There are also expansion cards designed to go with it. Of course this would require some work to get it together, but might give us extra flexability as well.
