alsa broken after 2.2.18 upgrade

If anyone can suggest something to help with my latest problem I would
greatly appreciate it. I installed 2.2.18 successfully and then attempted
to recompile and reinstall my alsa drivers. That process worked fine when
upgrading a week ago from 2.2.16 to 2.2.17, but this time, upgrading from
2.2.17 to 2.2.18, I get a compile error while compiling "alsa-drivers
v0.5.9d". I believe several list members are using the alsa drivers and
several have also upgraded to 2.2.18, so maybe there is some secret
knowledge out there that I can benefit from!

The compile error happens consistently. I have captured all my output from
configuring and compiling, but include below only the last few statements
of the compilation:
----------
gcc -DALSA_BUILD -D__KERNEL__ -O2 -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=686 -DLINUX -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -I/usr/src/linux/include -I../.. -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c wavefront.c
wavefront.c: In function `wavefront_wait':
wavefront.c:303: structure has no member named `loops_per_sec'
make[2]: *** [wavefront.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/alsa-driver-0.5.9d/lowlevel/isa'
make[1]: *** [all] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/alsa-driver-0.5.9d/lowlevel'
make: *** [compile] Error 1
----------

Thanks for any ideas you may have...
