What...I'm still learning--what, is dmesg a command to run that I redirect to a text file? Actually, I think I must've been doing something else when I told you I tried a custom kernel with nearly all the IDE controllers in it. I did make config make bzImage and then cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/compressed/bvmlinux /floppy/linux Then cd /floppy rdev linux /dev/fd0 It didn't boot at all, so I re-made the root disk from the disk I got from you. So I don't know if there were more or fewer.
