Rather than using the name for a specific soundcard the kernel requests services like sound-card-0 or sound-slot-6. This way you aliase sound-card-0 to whatever your primary soundcard is and the kernel will automatically load the modules you require. If you don't want any autoloading happening either alias sound-card-0 off or compile kmod out of your kernel. Regards, Kerry.
