That was fixed as of kernel 2.0.38 assuming your bios can correctly report the amount of ram to linux. We have servers with 384 megs of ram that are detected _without_ a mem override to the kernel command line. Yes Linux will use all that ram and if using vmware it might come in handy. In dat to day use however my server uses about this much.
