Something that you might be able to reproduce on your side:

enable gpio tracing (i.e.
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/gpio/enable)

and then do

	cat /dev/ttymxcX

. For me this makes RTS toggle (while IMHO it shouldn't).
