MAX3100 / MAX3400 Device Tree Support

Hi,

I'm new to kernel development and serial device drivers.

I want my Raspberry Pi to talk RS485 via a Max3400 Chip, that is
reported to be compatible with the already present MAX3100 device driver
max3100.c .

As it seems that device driver is not yet compatible with the device
tree functionality but apparently the max310x.c already supports device
tree, so I'd try to adapt that code to the max3100.c .

As for the device tree overlay I'd adapt the already present overlay for
the MPC2515 CAN driver, that basically uses the same SPI interface.

1. Did I miss anything obvious?

2. Is there a tutorial for beginners addressing the device tree support?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Patrick Menschel
