Re: PCI to parallel card - printer not working

I put the following line in /etc/modprobe.d/parport_pc.conf:

options parport_pc io=0xe800 irq=22

Now my dmesg output looks like this:

[ 7.053942] lp: driver loaded but no devices found
[ 7.058178] ppdev: user-space parallel port driver
[ 7.060833] parport0: PC-style at 0xe800, irq 22 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP]
[ 7.060837] parport0: irq 22 in use, resorting to polled operation
[ 7.115256] shpchp: Standard Hot Plug PCI Controller Driver version: 0.4
[ 7.144315] lp0: using parport0 (polling).

The device file /dev/parport0 was created and the printer is working without any problem.

I still see the following when parport_serial is loaded:

[ 7.180790] parport_serial 0000:05:01.0: 0000:05:01.0: unknown NetMos/Mostech device
[ 7.180790] Please send the output of lspci -vv, this
[ 7.180790] message (0x9710,0x9835,0x1000,0x0010), the
[ 7.180790] manufacturer and name of serial board or
[ 7.180790] modem board to <linux-serial@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>.

I bought this PCI to parallel port card to permanently connect to an old but good laser printer. Since I won't be using the serial interface supported by this card, I am not bothered by this message right now. I will fix it when I need it.

Hope this will help someone.

Thanks.
