Looking at the initrd generated by a simple: # make install for the kernel ... I see no "mpt" drivers of any kind!. The failure mode is very, very odd though. Shouldn't I have got a "can't mount root" error? /me goes to find how to tell Dracut to add the mpt3sas module to the initrd.
