            Bug ID: 200801
Summary: hpsa 3.4.20-0 driver not loading with HP P420i card
           Product: SCSI Drivers
           Version: 2.5
    Kernel Version: 4.14.62
          Hardware: x86-64
                OS: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P1
         Component: Other
          Assignee: scsi_drivers-other@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
          Reporter: toshaan@xxxxxxxxxxx
        Regression: No

The hpsa driver in the LTS tree of 4.14 is version 3.4.20-0 and does not load
the HP Smart Array P420i on a HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9.
The HP Smart Array controller does not load and no hard disk are visible of
this controller.

I found a solution to the problem, by using the 3.4.20-125 driver from the 4.17
tree and compiling it again the 4.14 tree.
This allows you to compile the kernel with the module hpsa and get a fully
working kernel and a hpsa module that actually boots up the RAID controller
properly and sees all hard disks connected.

A working example is available at
https://mirror0.powerel.org/pel/7/intelavx/x86_64/base/packages/kernel-4.14.62-1.pel7.x86_64.rpm
