https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=200003 --- Comment #9 from Brent (bzipitidoo@xxxxxxxxx) --- Even FreeBSD hates that DVD burner. Tried FreeBSD 11.2 RC3 on a DVD-R, and just like Linux, the bootloader loaded the kernel and then when the kernel took over it spat out a bunch of "Hardware Error" messages when it tried to access the DVD, then gave up and dropped to a shell of sorts. I am wondering if using a different ATA cable will help. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a 40-wire and an 80-wire version until I read the messages from the 2.6.25 kernel saying that I have a 40-wire cable. 2.6.25 says it's using UDMA/33 because of the 40-wire cable, while 2.6.26 says it's using UDMA/66 and doesn't say anything about a 40-wire cable. But now the FreeBSD kernel says it's using Ultra DMA/33, and can't read the DVD-R. Hmm. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
