John,

the soft lockup daemon does not work with virtualized cpus. It uses the wall 
clock time to check if the processor is stuck. If the hypervisor (LPAR or 
z/VM) has scheduled away the guest cpu the soft lockup daemon will give you 
false positives. Please disable softlockup, unless you run the guest on 
dedicated processors. (dedicated in LPAR _and_ z/VM)
