We discussed this in an earlier version of this patch set. As the pads 
here are CSI-2 the format on either pad is insufficient as it don't 
describe the multiplexed stream. This will hopefully soon be fixed 
upstream but in the mean time I would like to solve it the same way in 
the R-Car CSI-2 driver to make the proper fix easier once multiplexed 
stream support lands upstream.

I thought about that but with the multiplexed stream issue I thought it
