Generic PPP over HDLC in the 2.6 kernel?

Can anyone please update me on the state of generic ppp over wan hdlc
in the 2.6 kernel?

I'm wanting to do this for a ppc 2.6.14 kernel, and am only just
coming up to speed on the issues of pppd not working hdlc, and the wan
hdlc stuff only being sync ppp oriented.

Trawling the mailing list I came up with Dan Eble's 2.4.21 patches of
2003, but I don't know enough about the subtleties of 2.4 vs 2.6
kernels to know what success I might have had crafting his work into a
2.6 kernel. One set of patches he supplied was for a HDLC plugin to
pppd 2.4.1/2 - I should be fine with these, it's just the kernel stuff
that I'm unsure of.

Cheers,
Ron Kellam
