As the original author to introduce these attributes, I just wanted to chime in from the ChromeOS team's perspective (who originally introduced these attributes). I can say that we have used these attributes for debugging mostly manually, and do not have tools yet with hardcoded hierarchy / paths. So we wouldn't be opposed to it, if changes to the hierarchy have wider acceptance and it seems better in general.
