Thanks, this does indeed seem to work on my Eee 901 to remove those waits.
As for the other waits when it turns the slot off, would it be possible
to make that delay asynchronous? Presumably the spec only requires
that no other activity is attempted on the same slot for one second.
The kernel could get on with other things.
Your suggestion that I should instead by using acpiphp is something
that I will investigate. I'm sure you're familiar with the situation
where Z is used "because that's the way we've always done it", even
though it's wrong.... Can anyone point me to some good documentation
about how all this is supposed to work, or how it typically works on
other laptops?
