Assuming Kenji-san & Kristen are ok with your slot patches, we can push them in during the 2.6.27 merge window and see who screams. If things look like they'll take too long to fix, we can always revert, but I think it's more likely that we can fix anything that comes up... Which means I'll need a new patch set from you, Alex, against the linux-next branch. I'll stuff them in once I get acks from Kenji & Kristen.
