Look, either the kernel should support appended DTB booting, or it shouldn't. If it shouldn't, then that code should be ripped out of the kernel completely, and we tell people 'tough luck'. If it should, then it makes sense to help the millions of folks out there with locked bootloaders to build and boot new kernels.
