I took the patch created by Trond:

Then rebuilt the NFSv4 kernel module and installed it on my Ubuntu virtual machine.
The valid NFS mounts are no longer being blocked!
We've had several fairly significant outages for almost a year now
(when we migrated to NFSv4) due to this issue and this patch will
eliminate these types of incidents.
We greatly appreciate all the work that was done (especially knowing
everyone has a busy schedule).
