Everyone loves the simplicity of mode bits (including me) until you run into things like the need to automatically create home directories on an NFS-mounted filesystem or security situations where, for example, you want users to be able to edit but not delete files, and then you're kind of stuck listening to your Windows colleagues propose a Storage Spaces solution.
