oops, posted previous reply too quickly.

Hmm.. I have rpcbind in /sbin, but my rpm spec file
runs configure with "--bindir=/sbin"
The rpcbind makefile just installs rpcbind (and rpcbind) in bindir.
So presumably you run configure with --bindir=/usr/sbin ??
