Could it be a bad MMC card? I don't have a beagle xm in my rack right now, but I gave next with m_v7_dc a quick boot test on n900, omap3-evm and logicpd torpedo that are all omap3 based with the twl4030 variant PMICs and I'm not seeing any MMC issues on them.
