I've spent hours on the Web trying to find a few "simple" glossary or digital video editing questions I have.. Maybe someone on the list has the answers off the top of their head? 1. When talking about "scenes," could that be the same as a file? In other words, are scenes loaded from a single file? Would, typically, foo.avi, loaded into an editor be considered a single "scene," no matter that it actually contains many scenes as they would be called in regular movies.. 2. I use xawtv to grab "clips" from tape that defaults to an .avi file that multiplexes the pictures and audio into one file.. These clips can be converted to an .aob file that my editor, LVE, can view... My questions is: Can I edit a file as .vob /or/ do I have to further convert to separate picture and audio to edit; first the video, then the audio in order to get it into sync?? In other words: Do video editors require editing separately /or/ can they, maybe only some, edit the multiplexed files retaining sync? I doubt it, but don't really know.. 3. Looking for a "good" video editing textbook I see many but most descriptions are glitz rather than information.. Might there be one that is technical and doesn't spend the entire text telling you how to, typically, hold a camera, etc. <grin> In our rural area we don't even have a book store to check.. Our Library has very limited funds for specialised stuff like this.. <grin> Appreciate; TIA for any input.. -- Hal - in Terra Alta, WV/US - Slackware GNU/Linux 10.1 (2.4.29) . - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-newbie" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.linux-learn.org/faqs
