Has anyone noticed a steep degradation of forwarding performance for all
kernel versions > 2.6.26 ?
The test I am running is to send 5 million, 64bytes UDP packets at
865kpps to a quad core, x86-64, SunFire x2200M2 system. All packets are
sent from a single ip address/port to a single destination/port (so no
route cache issues are involved). I have a simple route setup for the
destination. For kernel versions < 2.6.26, I can forward packets
received with less than 2% loss. However, for any version > 2.6.26, the
loss factor is as big as 25%. The ingress and egress interfaces are tg3
interfaces. To rule out driver issues, I even tried with bnx2 interface
and got the same result. I think this is pretty big to have gone
unnoticed. Wonder what I missing here?
Thanks
Sanjay
