netem info

Hello all,

I'd like to replace my current emulation router (FreeBSD & dummynet)
with Linux 2.6.8. Prior to going with dummynet, I tested nistnet on
Linux but it hasn't worked to my satisfaction, in particular in the high
speed areas and setting bandwidth limits & drop policies.

Does anyone have any pointers on netem? (installation, Linux kernel
compatibility and functionality). I couldn't find much about it.

I'm also interested in 2.6 kernel configuration advice to maximize my
chances to route close to 1 Gbps traffic between the 2 gige cards (my
hardware is properly sized). I followed the recent discussion on
Gigabit routing, but I think it covered more areas than I need.

Thank you!
