Hello list, I am having some problems with the installation of 802.11b orinoco_pci networking. I have an HP-Compaq nx9110 with a whole lot of cool stuff, including built-in WiFi. After reading on linux-laptops.org about the nx9010 working great with linux, I thought that there would be no problem. But there is. lsmod shows that orinoco_pci and orinoco are loaded. /etc/modules.conf has "alias eth1 orinoco_pci". /etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-wireless has the following: DEVICE=eth1 BOOTPROTO=dhcp BROADCAST=255 ONBOOT=yes MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes Now I cannot bring up eth1 no matter what I try. ifconfig doesn't work, and I am trying the ifcfg-wireless script with Mandrake 1 and that doesn't work either. I am having to use Windows to write this Email, so my memory is slightly shaky on the keywords, but it gives an error message stating that "off" and "auto" aren't recognised keywords, but they are, dammit. The keywords refer to the KEY and ESSID options which I confired were right from the manpage. Does anyone have any ideas? dmesg shows the following, posted last so you don't have to read to the end if you're bored. 5 ACPI: FADT (v001 HP Chinook 0x06040000 ATI 0x000f4240) @ 0x1bf7ce7d ACPI: SSDT (v001 PTLTD ACPIPST1 0x06040000 LTP 0x00000001) @ 0x1bf7cef1 ACPI: MADT (v001 PTLTD APIC 0x06040000 LTP 0x00000000) @ 0x1bf7cfa6 ACPI: DSDT (v001 HP SB200 0x06040000 INTL 0x20030509) @ 0x00000000 ACPI: PM-Timer IO Port: 0x8008 ACPI: Local APIC address 0xfee00000 ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x00] lapic_id[0x00] enabled) Processor #0 15:2 APIC version 20 ACPI: LAPIC_NMI (acpi_id[0x00] high edge lint[0x1]) Using ACPI for processor (LAPIC) configuration information Intel MultiProcessor Specification v1.4 Virtual Wire compatibility mode.
