Hi there,
my GNU/Linux box (kernel 2.6.1) hangs up with a SkGeStopPort() fatal error
when it automatically shuts down during the night.

After work, the GNU/Linux box automatically shuts down after approx 1+
hours of inactivity. When the shutdown procedure comes to the point where
it puts the net down, the GNU/Linux box hangs up with the
following fatal error:
eth0: -- ERROR --
Class: Hardware failure
Nr: 0xd9
Msg: FATAL: SkGeStopPort() does not terminate (Tx)
The kernel is a non-patched, non-taited 2.6.1 kernel. The only
network driver built into the kernel is the sk98lin driver.
Please, note that the problem does not show up when the machine is
manually rebooted during normal working hours. That is why I
suspect that the problem araises after a certain ammount of
inactivity occurs.
The same problem has been reported for kernel 2.4.23:
