Hello, after advice of few people from the list, I decided to try to profile kernel/networking code. I found few projects on profiling (have never done it before): kernprof, oprofile,LTT. what is the difference between them. which is known as more powerfull and useful in my case? OProfile needs patching the kernel. So I do. Then I compile kernel 2.4.18-14, configure+make+make install oprofile. BUT `opcontrol --vmlinux=/boot/vmlinux-2.4.18-14` fails. It says: "insmod oprofile failed" and "Kernel doesn't support oprofile". I have RH9.0 and the kernel is downloaded from internet. i use x86 PC. Is there any reason why this can't work? I little bit confused because I don't know whether: does kernprof need boot: profile=1 ? or oprofile needs boot: profile=1 Whereas KERNPROF for me can anyone HELP ME making kernprof or oprofile run????? regards adam - : send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
