Intentional.  You can change this behavior by using route
based source address selection and enabling:

/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/${DEVICE_NAME}/arp_filter

This is becomming a major FAQ, someone should put up a web
page documenting this so the next person can be pointed to
it instead of people typing in this reply over and over.
