The first release of my experimental i82596 driver is now available for
download:
http://users.cybercity.dk/~ccc94453/linux/i82596/0.01/i82596-0.01.tar.gz

Supported boards (running in little-endian mode):

Intel EtherExpress Flash32
Intel EtherExpress Pro/10 PCI

Please note that I don't have any of the supported hardware, so the driver
is completely untested, and could have any number of trivially simple (but
potentially dangerous) bugs. Please at least sync your disks before using it.

Also note that TX statistics are incomplete.

There are several similarily named boards that are completely different and
incompatible with this driver:

Intel EtherExpress 10 - use eepro.o instead.
Intel EtherExpress Pro/10 - use eepro.o instead.
Intel EtherExpress Pro/10+ - use eepro.o instead.
Intel EtherExpress Pro/10+ PCI - use eepro100.o or e100.o instead.
Intel EtherExpress 32 - use ne3200.o instead.

The driver can be compiled against Linux 2.4.20 and probably several other
versions in the 2.4.x kernel series too. See
http://users.cybercity.dk/~ccc94453/linux/i82596/0.01/i82596-0.01.txt
for details.

I can be contacted by email: rask@ne3200.lambertsen.cx. Reports of success
or failure with this driver are most welcome. If you have an unsupported
i82596 board, please contact me too.

Regards,
Rask Ingemann Lambertsen
