Hi all, I've been a lurker on the list for a while, but this is the first post. I'm stuck with a problem on my new machine. (Motherboard GA-8SQ800 Dual-DDR (T256MB400) Intel 2.4 GHz) I'm pretty sure everything is set up properly. The problem started with a network card (rtl8139D), that worked on kernel-2.2.20 (and of course weendoze), but not on kernel-2.4.20. I sent a bug report to http://sourceforge.net/projects/gkernel/ thinking it was an 8139too problem. But since, I've tried 3 different (definitely working) network cards (3com + intel eepro100) on all 5 pci slots, but still no banana. The network interface comes up, but there is no traffic picked up. Reboot into 2.2.20, and everything works. I since suspected that there is a clash with the usb controllers : 00:03.0 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 (rev 0f) (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Subsystem: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 32 (20000ns max), cache line size 08 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 20 Region 0: Memory at f7001000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] 00:03.1 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 (rev 0f) (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Subsystem: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 32 (20000ns max), cache line size 08 Interrupt: pin B routed to IRQ 21 Region 0: Memory at f7002000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] 00:03.2 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 (rev 0f) (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Subsystem: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 32 (20000ns max), cache line size 08 Interrupt: pin C routed to IRQ 22 Region 0: Memory at f7003000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] 00:03.3 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]: Unknown device 7002 (prog-if 20) Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology: Unknown device 5004 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 32 (20000ns max), cache line size 08 Interrupt: pin D routed to IRQ 23 Region 0: Memory at f7004000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2- AuxCurrent=375mA PME(D0+,D1-,D2-,D3hot+,D3cold+) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Well I've since tried to find a 2.4.20 backport of the usb drivers , but couldn't, so I tried with a 2.5 kernel (2.5.9), but then I can't get my graphics card to work ( G-Force 4 Titanium). So I've also tried to find (fruitlessly) drivers for the graphics card for 2.5.x kernels. I actually stopped, and thought to ask here for help, as google also didn't bring answers. Just want to know if someone could guide me to what is ACTUALLY wrong, before I disappoint myself any further. Thanks if you managed to get this far :) Stefan - : send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
